An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced Sign Language Interpreter seeking a contract position to make a meaningful difference in a school environment. This full-time role is dedicated to providing 1:1 support for an elementary-age student throughout the entire 2026-2027 academic year. The position is strictly in-person, offering the chance to engage directly and foster a supportive atmosphere that enriches learning and communication.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid EIPA 4.0 or higher is mandatory
• Proven background in educational or school-based interpreting
• Proficiency in American Sign Language and familiarity with interpreting protocols
• Experience working 1:1 with children, especially younger students
• Professionalism, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student progress
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical guidelines

Position Responsibilities:

• Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation for an individual student in elementary grades
• Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers in the classroom and during school-related activities
• Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the students learning styles and needs
• Support the students social and academic development by providing consistent, high-quality interpretation
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with educators on student progress
• Maintain professionalism and cultural sensitivity in all interactions within the school community
