Job Description

Step into an essential role supporting student access and inclusion as a Sign Language Interpreter for a contract, full-time opportunity. This position focuses on 1:1 interpreting within an educational setting near Aurora, CO, providing critical communication support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong receptive/expressive interpreting skills
  • Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreterideally in school environments or with young learners
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries when interpreting in educational settings
  • Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification or equivalent credentials preferred
  • Ability to work independently, flexibility, and a passion for supporting student growth

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate and effective 1:1 interpretation between students and school staff during classroom instruction and school activities
  • Collaborate closely with educators and other support staff to ensure full participation and inclusion of the assigned student
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the unique needs and communication styles of students
  • Maintain professionalism and ethical standards in line with interpreting best practices
  • Support the educational and personal development of students, fostering a positive and inclusive school environment
