Job Description

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for a school-based position near Athens, AL. This role involves supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing by facilitating communication and ensuring full access to the educational environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide real-time interpretation services using American Sign Language (ASL) in classroom and school settings
  • Support students communication needs during instruction, activities, and meetings
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
  • Assist in promoting an inclusive and accessible learning environment
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards
  • Participate in IEP meetings and school-related functions as needed

Qualifications:

  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, or RID/NIC certification preferred (state requirements may apply)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Previous experience in educational or pediatric settings preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to meet all district and state hiring requirements
