Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for a school-based position near Athens, AL. This role involves supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing by facilitating communication and ensuring full access to the educational environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time interpretation services using American Sign Language (ASL) in classroom and school settings
- Support students communication needs during instruction, activities, and meetings
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
- Assist in promoting an inclusive and accessible learning environment
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards
- Participate in IEP meetings and school-related functions as needed
Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, or RID/NIC certification preferred (state requirements may apply)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience in educational or pediatric settings preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to meet all district and state hiring requirements
