Qualifications & Preferred Background:

  • Valid Alabama SLI license required
  • EIPA credential strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in educational interpreting, specifically within a school or pediatric setting, is highly valued
  • Ability to interpret in both one-on-one and group settings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated reliability and professionalism in previous roles

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpretation for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing in various classroom and school-based settings
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and other service providers to ensure full access to instruction and activities
  • Support individual education plans (IEPs) through clear and accurate communication
  • Foster an inclusive environment by facilitating communication between students, peers, and school staff
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all educational and ethical standards
  • Document services provided and participate in relevant meetings and trainings
