Qualifications & Preferred Background:
- Valid Alabama SLI license required
- EIPA credential strongly preferred
- Previous experience in educational interpreting, specifically within a school or pediatric setting, is highly valued
- Ability to interpret in both one-on-one and group settings
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated reliability and professionalism in previous roles
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing in various classroom and school-based settings
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and other service providers to ensure full access to instruction and activities
- Support individual education plans (IEPs) through clear and accurate communication
- Foster an inclusive environment by facilitating communication between students, peers, and school staff
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all educational and ethical standards
- Document services provided and participate in relevant meetings and trainings
