Job Description

An opportunity is available for a full-time Sign Language Interpreter to support two students in a school setting in Aspen, CO. This contract position is scheduled from ASAP through the end of the school year and provides dedicated support alongside a paraeducator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers, peers, and school staff.
  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities in American Sign Language (ASL) to ensure equal access to the curriculum.
  • Collaborate closely with a paraeducator assigned to support the students.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all interactions.
  • Adapt interpreting methods to accommodate individual student needs and educational settings.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills in educational environments.
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, including coordination with paraeducators and teaching staff.
  • Flexibility to begin work immediately and maintain consistent availability through the school years end.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
