Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpreting skills
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational or school setting preferred
- Familiarity with various communication modes for deaf/hard-of-hearing students
- Ability to interpret both one-on-one and in group settings with accuracy
- Understands and maintains confidentiality and ethical standards
- Holds appropriate certifications as required by state and district (e.g., EIPA, RID, or equivalent)
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate sign language interpretation between students, staff, and peers throughout the school day
- Support access to curriculum, instructions, classroom discussions, and school functions
- Adapt interpretation to meet individual student needs and varying communication levels
- Actively participate in educational meetings, team discussions, and training as needed
