Step into a meaningful role as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students in both special education and general education settings. This contract position offers a full-time, full-school-year commitment, working onsite across various school campuses in the area. Youll be an essential part of an itinerant team, making a difference in multiple locations and interacting with a diverse range of learners and staff.
Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher is required
- Proven experience providing sign language interpreting services within educational settings
- Familiarity with a full range of student needs, from mild to severe
- Flexibility to travel between multiple school sites as part of an itinerant assignment
- Professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards in educational interpreting
Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in both special education (SPED) and general education (Gen Ed) classes
- Adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs and classroom demands
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and peers
- Travel to and from assigned school sites to fulfill daily responsibilities
- Participate in educational team meetings as requested
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and ensure compliance with school protocols
