A full-time opportunity is available for a Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in a school setting located in Arroyo Grande, CA, with service areas including Pismo Beach, Santa Maria, and Edna. This contract position offers a dynamic environment where you will facilitate communication for students with hearing impairments, ensuring they have equal access to the educational curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction and school events.
• Collaborate with teachers, students, and support staff to provide effective communication support tailored to individual student needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while upholding ethical standards in educational interpreting.
• Assist in fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes engagement and student success.

Qualifications:

• Valid California Sign Language Interpreter credential, such as a California Communication Access Specialist or equivalent certification.
• Experience working with children across K-12 grade levels in an educational setting is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ASL and current interpreting practices.
• Ability to work full-time (37.5 hours per week) during the 2026-2027 school year.
• Clear understanding of educational terminology and disabilities related to hearing impairments.
