This contract role places you in a dynamic educational setting, working closely with students, teachers, and staff to foster accessible learning and inclusion. Your expertise will play a critical role in supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping bridge barriers to communication and learning.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpretation techniques
• RID or equivalent certification preferred
• Previous experience working in K-12 school settings is highly valued
• Knowledge of educational terminology and classroom protocols
• Strong listening, memory, and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, parents, and other interpreters
• Adaptability to various classroom environments and teaching styles

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students, educators, and parents during classroom instruction, activities, meetings, and school events
• Ensure clear, accurate, and impartial communication at all times
• Assist teachers in implementing classroom strategies that promote engagement and understanding for students with hearing loss
• Respect student confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed
• Provide feedback and insights to staff regarding communication access and inclusion
