Make a difference in the educational journey of students by providing expert sign language interpreting services in a school-based setting near Alexander, AR. This contract position offers a fulfilling opportunity to support accessible communication and foster inclusion for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current national certification or state credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID, EIPA, QA, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience working with children or in educational environments is highly desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing classroom needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and school activities
- Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff
- Collaborate with teachers and educational teams to ensure accessibility of curriculum content
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Provide feedback and insight as needed to help support student success
