Job Description

A skilled Sign Language Interpreter is sought for a full-time position in a school setting located in Albemarle, NC, with travel to North Stanly Middle School in New London, NC. This role serves one elementary student and requires strong communication and interpreting skills to support educational accessibility.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active NCDPI Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license with current documentation
  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
  • Experience using ECATS for documentation and reporting
  • Valid North Carolina interpreter license
  • Proven experience interpreting in K-12 educational environments, preferably in North Carolina
  • Ability to work full-time, 37.5 hours per week, from August through May

Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation to support one elementary student within a classroom setting
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to facilitate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and educational personnel
  • Maintain detailed records through ECATS as required by district and state policies
  • Attend necessary meetings and participate in ongoing training and professional development
  • Travel between designated school locations as needed to fulfill job duties
