Job Description

A full-time onsite opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) specializing in K-12 DHH classroom settings. This role is based in Adrian, MI, and involves travel to support educational programs directly within school environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and effective ASL interpretation services to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and educational staff to facilitate communication and learning.
  • Ensure compliance with state and school policies related to interpreting services.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain and enhance interpreting skills.

Qualifications:

  • EIPA score of 4.0 or higher is required.
  • Licensed as a Michigan interpreter through LARA.
  • Candidates with an EIPA score of 3.5-3.9 who tested within the past 24 months and have completed continuing education units (CEUs) may be considered with a waiver approval.
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language and familiarity with educational interpreting best practices.

  • Position is onsite in Adrian, Michigan.
  • Travel within the designated school district may be required.
