Job Description
Make a meaningful difference supporting students as a School and Recreational Therapist on a part-time contract basis during the 20262027 school year. This dynamic position will give you the opportunity to provide direct therapy, perform assessments, and participate in annual IEP meetings for a caseload of four students across multiple school sites. Approximately 510 flexible hours per week make this an appealing option for professionals seeking a supplemental or adaptable schedule.
Key qualifications include:
- Possession of one of the following:
- Certificate from the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification
- Certification from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation
- Certification from the National Recreation and Park Association for recreation or therapeutic recreation services
- Experience as a school therapist or recreational therapist is strongly preferred
- Strong commitment to supporting student enrichment and personal growth
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with educators, families, and IEP team members
- Ability to deliver effective, engaging, and student-centered therapeutic sessions in accordance with IEP recommendations
In this role, responsibilities include:
- Providing weekly therapeutic recreation sessions to assigned students:
- UO: 45 minutes/week
- LR: 30 minutes/week
- GV: 30 minutes/week
- MC: 85 minutes/week
- Conducting formal assessments for each student annually
- Attending and participating in annual IEP meetings
- Maintaining accurate documentation and progress notes
- Communicating student progress and collaborating on goal planning with school teams
