Step into a meaningful role supporting student growth as a contract School and Recreational Therapist, working part-time with a dynamic district in the Simi Valley area. From August 12, 2026, through June 4, 2027, you will provide direct therapeutic recreation services to a small, diverse caseload and collaborate with school teams to promote students well-being.
Ideal candidates will bring certification and experience working with children in educational settings, along with responsiveness and adaptability for a rotating multi-site environment. Your passion for helping students thrive through recreation and therapy will be invaluable in this fulfilling, flexible role.
Qualifications:
- Hold at least one of the following credentials: Certificate from the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification, Certificate from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation, Certification by the National Recreation and Park Association for recreation or therapeutic recreation.
- Experience as a School or Recreational Therapist, especially in schools.
- Comfortable conducting assessments and participating in IEP meetings.
- Proficiency supporting students with a variety of needs.
- Able to work approximately 510 hours per week, attending sessions across multiple sites.
- Open to providing services virtually if needed.
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized recreation therapy sessions for 4 students each week, tailoring approach and timing as referenced.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records according to school and district standards.
- Complete ongoing assessments and provide input during annual IEP meetings.
- Collaborate with educational staff, parents, and related service providers as needed.
- Adjust service models based on student progress and district requests.
