Job Description
Become a part of a meaningful contract opportunity serving students as a School Art Therapist. This flexible, part-time position near Pacoima, CA, runs from August 12, 2026, through June 4, 2027, with a weekly commitment of approximately 5-10 hours. Play a key role in supporting student well-being across multiple school sites by delivering therapeutic art interventions and participating in essential student support meetings.
Your expertise will provide critical therapeutic services for a current caseload of four students, with sessions tailored to individual needs. Ideal candidates are passionate about making a difference in students lives, comfortable working in a school-based setting, and experienced with teletherapy (VOCO candidates encouraged).
Qualifications:
- Holds one of the following certifications:
- Certificate issued by the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification
- Certificate from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation
- Certification from the National Recreation and Park Association (qualifying you for recreation or therapeutic recreation services)
- Experience as a School Therapist and/or Art Therapist, preferably within educational environments
- Capable of managing a small, varied caseload and traveling between sites as needed
- Familiarity with the IEP process, including attending meetings and conducting relevant assessments
- Strong communication and organization skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized art therapy or therapeutic recreation sessions based on student needs (as outlined: weekly sessions of 3085 minutes per student)
- Conduct assessments as part of the therapy process and ongoing student evaluation
- Attend and contribute to annual IEP meetings
- Collaborate with school staff and families to optimize therapeutic outcomes
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school protocols
