Job Description

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a contract school therapist near Oakland, CA. This opportunity is perfect for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, School Counselors, Social Workers (with PPS credentials), or Associate Clinicians eager to support student wellness in a vibrant elementary school environment.

Beginning in the upcoming school year, youll provide essential mental health support at a single elementary school, focusing on approximately 15 students needing individualized assistance while also leading informal groups to promote social-emotional learning. Youll collaborate with educators and staff to foster a positive learning environment, helping children develop resilience, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:

  • Valid California credential: School Counselor, LMFT/AMFT, LCSW with PPS, or ACSW with PPS
  • Experience supporting youth in educational settings preferred
  • Strong understanding of social-emotional learning strategies
  • Ability to lead individual and small group interventions
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual counseling sessions for students with identified needs
  • Develop and lead SEL group activities, such as lunch bunches
  • Consult with teachers and staff regarding student welfare and behavior
  • Maintain confidential and thorough records as required
  • Participate in school meetings as a mental health advocate
  • Contribute to a culture of acceptance, empathy, and positive behavior
