Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of young learners by bringing your expertise and creativity to an engaging school-based contract position as an Art Therapist. This opportunity runs from August 19th through June 4th and is offered at various sites throughout a dynamic district, allowing you to impact students well-being and growth.

With a manageable caseload of 15 students, you will provide therapeutic supports designed to help students express themselves, develop coping strategies, and build resilience. Your schedule is part-time, 20 hours per week between 8 am and 4 pm, allowing for a healthy balance and consistent routine. All services are delivered in person, giving you the chance to build rapport and strong therapeutic relationships onsite.

To succeed in this role, youll bring creative energy and clinical skill to your interactions. The district offers a collaborative, supportive environment ideal for someone who values teamwork, innovative thinking, and student-centered care.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Maryland state licensure through the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists
  • Experience in school-based or pediatric settings preferred
  • Strong understanding of art therapy practices and child/adolescent development
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt interventions to individual student needs and educational goals
  • Passion for positively impacting the mental health and social-emotional well-being of children

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate individual and small group art therapy sessions with students
  • Collaborate with educators, counselors, and support staff to align services with IEPs or student plans
  • Document progress, prepare reports, and contribute to student team meetings
  • Foster an inclusive, safe, and creative therapeutic space
