Job Description
A school district in Paterson, NJ is seeking a skilled School Psychologist to support the educational and emotional needs of students. This contract position offers the opportunity to work directly with diverse student populations, school staff, and families to promote positive academic and mental health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to identify students learning and behavioral needs
- Interpret test results and provide actionable recommendations
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and parents to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide counseling services to students individually or in groups
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to intervention planning
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed
- Assist with crisis intervention and provide guidance on behavioral management
Qualifications:
- Masters or Doctoral degree in School Psychology or related field
- Valid state certification or licensure as a School Psychologist
- Experience performing psychological assessments in school settings
- Strong knowledge of IDEA and other special education regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds is a plus
