Make a transformative impact supporting elementary and middle school students in Virginia as a School Psychologist. In this full-time, contract opportunity, you'll play a crucial role in the assessment and consultation process, working closely with both educational staff and families to help drive student success.
This position spans two schools within the northern region of Stafford County, offering direct hands-on work in both elementary and middle school environments. You'll primarily focus on student assessments, Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and occasionally support the districts MTSS framework. While collaboration with social workers on counseling needs may arise, academic achievement testing is not part of this role thanks to dedicated Educational Diagnosticians in the buildings.
A flexible hybrid structure is available, with four days on-site and one remote workday permitted each week, empowering you to balance the advantages of in-person collaboration and remote productivity.
To be considered, candidates must have:
- An active Virginia Department of Education certification
- Current Virginia School Psychologist licensure
- Experience with school-based assessment and consultation
- Proficiency in FBA/BIP creation and support
- Familiarity with MTSS is a plus
- Commitment to prompt completion of Virginia Department of Social Services screening and TB testing
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting student assessments and consultations
- Developing and supporting effective behavior intervention strategies
- Collaborating with educators, administrators, and parents
- Providing expertise for teams implementing MTSS
- Supporting school social workers with occasional counseling as necessary
This role follows a standard school calendar, running from August through late May, with daily hours from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
