This position offers an opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to provide dedicated, onsite nursing care in a school setting, supporting a medically fragile student. This travel role is based in Zimmerman, MN, and involves working directly within the school environment alongside educational staff to ensure the student's health and safety.
Responsibilities include delivering specialized 1:1 nursing care tailored to a student with complex medical needs. Daily duties encompass managing tracheostomy care, ventilator support, and routine ostomy changes, as well as administering nasally delivered medications for seizure management. The nurse will also oversee continuous G-J tube feedings, respiratory treatments using a nebulizer, and monitoring adrenal insufficiency symptoms. This role requires strong clinical judgment, hands-on care skills, and the ability to respond promptly to medical emergencies.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Proven experience with tracheostomy care, particularly with pediatric patients preferred
- Comfort and skill in managing complex medical equipment such as vents, oxygen tanks, and feeding tubes
- Ability to deliver compassionate and vigilant care to wheelchair-bound students with multiple medical needs
