Qualifications and Experience:
- Current and active RN license in Virginia
- Previous experience in a school nursing role or working with pediatric populations
- Proficiency with tracheostomy (trach) and gastrostomy (g-tube) care is required
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a care team, including educators, therapists, and parents
- Current CPR/BLS certification
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 nursing care, supporting all health needs of the assigned student throughout the school day
- Monitor and manage trach and g-tube care, including suctioning, feeding, and emergency responses as needed
- Administer medications, perform health procedures, and maintain clear documentation of all care activities
- Serve as a health advocate, fostering a safe and nurturing school environment
- Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and administrators to support the student's learning and participation
- Respond promptly to any changes in the students health status or emergencies
