Job Description

A part-time registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) is sought to provide essential health services within an elementary school setting in Warwick, Rhode Island. This contract-to-hire role offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of young students during the academic year, ensuring their health needs are met in a supportive educational environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering direct nursing care and health assessments to elementary students
  • Collaborating with school staff to support student health plans and manage medical conditions
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Maintaining accurate health records and documentation
  • Providing health education and promoting wellness initiatives within the school community
  • Ensuring compliance with school health policies and procedures

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Current Rhode Island RN or LPN licensure
  • Experience working with pediatric or school-aged populations preferred
  • Ability to work part-time, approximately 16 hours per week, split between morning and afternoon shifts (8:009:30 AM and 2:454:15 PM)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in a school setting

This position includes a consistent four-hour daily pay arrangement regardless of time spent with students and is assigned to one elementary school. The school district provides supervision support through paraprofessionals or licensed practical nurses as available. Onboarding will include school-specific training and required background checks prior to starting.
