Provide professional nursing care as a Certified School Nurse in a K-12 school environment located in Warden, WA. This full-time, contract position (37.5 hours per week) focuses on assessing and addressing the physical and emotional health needs of students during the school day and school-related activities. The role plays a crucial part in supporting student health to enhance the educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of students physical and emotional health as it relates to their academic performance.
- Identify health needs and initiate referrals for further diagnosis and treatment, ensuring appropriate follow-up.
- Communicate student health concerns to relevant school staff to support learning and well-being.
- Apply evidence-based, student-centered nursing practices and leverage performance data to guide care decisions.
- Advocate for students by promoting self-empowerment, self-management, problem-solving, and effective communication.
- Uphold ethical standards with sensitivity to diversity, protecting student and family autonomy, privacy, and dignity.
- Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans, including emergency plans for life-threatening conditions and health plans for medically fragile students.
- Administer nursing treatments and medication as required in the school setting.
Qualifications:
- Valid Certified School Nurse (CSN) license for the state of Washington.
- Proven ability to collaborate with educators, families, and healthcare providers.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience working with K-12 student populations preferred.
