A healthcare professional with expertise in school nursing is needed for a unique transportation nursing role in Waltham, MA. This onsite position involves providing specialized care for a student with autism and seizure disorder during daily transportation to and from school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care during transportation between the students home and Beverly School for the Deaf.
- Escort and monitor the student on the van during pick-up at 7:00 AM and drop-off at school, then return the nurse to Waltham.
- Conduct afternoon pick-up at 1:00 PM, collecting the student from school and returning safely to Waltham.
- Administer appropriate care and support tailored to a non-speaking child with autism and seizure disorder.
- Collaborate with the student's caregivers and school staff as needed to ensure safety and well-being throughout transit.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current LPN or RN licensure valid in Massachusetts.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with autism spectrum disorders and seizure management.
- Strong observation and communication skills to monitor health and respond to any medical needs during transport.
- Ability to work onsite in Waltham with reliable transportation and punctuality.
- Compassionate, attentive, and patient demeanor focused on delivering high-quality student care.
Position Details:
- Location: Waltham, MA
- Discipline: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN), School Nursing preferred
- Schedule: Approximately 1 hour daily, from early morning pick-up around 7:00 AM and afternoon pick-up at 1:00 PM
- Term: Immediate start with assignment continuing through June 15, 2026
