This school-based assignment is ideal for Registered Nurses (RN), Certified School Nurses (CSN), or Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) with the required California credentials. The role centers on performing critical hearing and vision screenings and providing specialized support alongside other school nurses for the remainder of the academic year.
Key Qualifications:
- Active California RN, CSN, or LVN license (required)
- Previous experience in school nursing or with pediatric populations is highly desirable
- Ability to adapt care and communication styles for students with a wide range of abilities and needs
- Strong organizational and time management skills to coordinate screenings across varied school settings
- Compassion, professionalism, and a team-oriented approach
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct hearing and vision screenings for students across multiple campuses following the student calendar
- Deliver hands-on health support and collaborate with district nursing staff
- Document assessments accurately and maintain compliant health records
- Identify, report, and follow up on findings or concerns
- Assist with individualized health plans and respond to on-site health-related incidents
- Maintain open communication with faculty, families, and school support services
