Job Description
A school district in Pontiac, MI is seeking full-time Registered Nurses (RN) for the academic year 2026-2027. This contract position offers an opportunity to provide essential nursing care to students with medically fragile conditions in a school setting.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing nursing care to students with diverse medical needs such as tracheostomy care, g-tube feeding, seizure management, lifting, and toileting assistance
- Managing 1:1 student care or small caseloads based on individual needs
- Monitoring and assessing student health to ensure safety and well-being during the school day
- Collaborating with school staff and families to support student health plans and accommodations
- Maintaining accurate health records and documenting care provided
Qualifications:
- Must hold an active Michigan RN license (LPNs cannot be considered)
- Experience in school nursing or providing care in educational environments preferred
- Ability to handle a variety of medically complex conditions with compassion and professionalism
- Strong communication skills to work with students, parents, and school personnel
- Willingness to commit to full-time hours (approximately 35 hours per week) during the school year
Location: Pontiac, MI
This position supports a 9-10 month school calendar and requires dedication to the health and safety of students in the district. Candidates must verify and have an active Michigan RN license before consideration.
