Job Description

Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting student well-being as a dedicated Registered Nurse in a close-knit educational environment. This contract position is based near South Portland, ME, offering you the chance to make a meaningful impact by providing one-on-one care for a student during the school day. The current nurse is on maternity leave, so your expertise will be valued from day one.

The role begins ASAP and continues through the end of the school year, with flexible hours of 1-2 days per week during the current session. Youll have the opportunity for extended school year work over the summer, transitioning to a full-time schedule with the new school year.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maine
  • Previous experience in a school setting is preferred
  • Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a school team
  • Confidence in delivering 1:1 direct care, including medication administration and health monitoring

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide continuous, individualized health care to a single student
  • Implement care plans as directed and maintain thorough documentation
  • Act as a liaison between school staff, families, and healthcare providers
  • Offer support and guidance regarding the students health needs throughout the school day
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing environment focused on wellness and inclusion
