Job Description

Seeking Registered Nurses (RN) for a full-time contract position supporting K-12 schools in Shiprock, NM. This role serves as the Lead Nurse overseeing multiple school health offices, providing vital nursing care across 23 campuses. The contracted assignment runs ASAP through May 29, 2026, with a 37.5-hour workweek, requiring onsite presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead nursing services and supervise Health Aides on campus
  • Deliver first aid and basic healthcare to students and staff
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per instructions
  • Support students managing chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and epilepsy
  • Maintain thorough documentation including health visits, medication logs, and immunization records
  • Assist with student health screenings and facilitate IEP and 504 plan health components
  • Respond calmly and effectively to health emergencies
  • Collaborate closely with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers
  • Travel between multiple schools within the district as required

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Background check and fingerprint clearance mandatory
  • Effective communication and outstanding organizational skills
  • Experience working in pediatric or school nursing preferred
  • Bilingual skills in English and Navajo (Din) highly desirable
  • Familiarity with student IEPs, individualized care plans, school health policies, and FERPA regulations
