Job Description

A full-time Registered Nurse (RN) is needed to provide specialized nursing care for an upper elementary student with special needs in a school setting located in Rohnert Park, CA. This contract position spans the full academic year and involves direct support both during school hours and transportation to and from school. The ideal candidate will be skilled in diabetic care and able to work independently without district supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one nursing support to an upper elementary student with special needs.
  • Manage diabetic care needs throughout the school day.
  • Accompany the student during transportation to and from school.
  • Collaborate with educational staff as required to maintain student health and safety.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with school health policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active RN license valid in California.
  • Experience working in school nursing or pediatric healthcare preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, as no supervision is provided.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with special needs healthcare management, particularly diabetic care.

Work Schedule and Location:

  • Location: Elementary school in Rohnert Park, CA.
  • Hours: Approximately 35 hours/week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM; Wednesday 7:45 AM to 1:15 PM.

Additional Information:

  • Onsite interview with the assistant special education director and nursing coordinator is required.
  • Fingerprinting clearance is mandatory prior to starting.
  • The position does not include provided training, so candidates should be prepared to work independently from day one.
