Make a significant impact in the lives of students by providing dedicated nursing care in a school setting near Portland, ME. This contract opportunity is ideal for Registered Nurses who are passionate about supporting the well-being of children and embracing the rewarding environment of education. You will serve as a 1:1 nurse for a student, stepping in while the current nurse is on maternity leave.
Initially, youll work part-time (1-2 days/week) during the current and extended school year, transitioning to a full-time schedule at the start of the next school year. With one primary school location, you can focus on building consistent, meaningful connections without juggling multiple sites.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid RN license in Maine (or eligibility for reciprocity)
- Pediatric or school nursing experience preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and care planning skills
- Ability to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care to students
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
- Team-oriented attitude and flexibility to adapt to school needs
Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering 1:1 nursing care and support during school hours
- Implementing and monitoring health care plans with a focus on student safety
- Administering medication, monitoring health status, and responding to emergencies
- Maintaining accurate health records and collaboration with educators and families
- Acting as a health advocate and resource for staff, students, and families
- Providing condition-specific care and ensuring compliance with educational health regulations
