Step into a dynamic school setting near Dekalb, IL and make a direct impact by providing dedicated nursing support to a high school student for the remainder of the school year. This contract position offers a set schedule of 35 hours per week, working Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:00pm, with a 30-minute lunch break each day.
Youll be assigned exclusively to one high school, working one-on-one with a female student who requires trach care. Your expertise in airway monitoring and trach suctioning as needed will be invaluable in ensuring her health and safety during school hours. The student is ambulatory and does not require bus riding or special supervision outside of your RN skill set, allowing you to focus your nursing care precisely where its needed.
Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois
- Experience with trach care, airway monitoring, and suctioning is required
- Background working in school nursing or pediatric care preferred
- Ability to build rapport and support high school-aged students
- Comfortable managing independent nursing duties without on-site supervision from Para, RBT, CNA, or LPN
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 nursing care for a high school student in a school setting
- Monitor and maintain a safe airway, completing suctioning as necessary
- Collaborate with school staff and communicate relevant health updates
- Maintain detailed and accurate health records in accordance with school policy
- Support the students participation in her daily school activities
