A full-time Certified School Nurse (CSN) opportunity is available in a K-12 school setting located in Othello, WA. This contract position supports the physical and emotional health needs of students throughout the school day and during school-sponsored activities. The role involves collaborating with educational staff to promote student wellness and ensure health needs are met effectively within the school environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing students' physical and emotional health as it relates to their educational experience.
- Initiating referrals for diagnosis and treatment and providing necessary follow-up care.
- Communicating health concerns that may impact learning to appropriate school personnel.
- Utilizing student-centered, evidence-based practices and performance data to guide care decisions.
- Advocating for students by encouraging self-empowerment, self-management, and effective communication.
- Upholding ethical and equitable care, protecting student and family rights with sensitivity to diversity.
- Developing individualized care plans such as Individual Emergency Plans (IEPs) for life-threatening conditions and Individual Health Plans (IHPs) for medically fragile students or those requiring nursing treatments or medication administration.
Qualifications:
- Current Certified School Nurse license for Washington State.
- Experience in school nursing or related healthcare roles supporting K-12 students.
This position requires onsite presence for 37.5 hours per week during the contract school year.
