A school-based nursing opportunity is available for passionate registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) across multiple campuses in the Kansas City, KS area. Serving across health offices, classroom nursing, and one-on-one student support, these contract roles provide a chance to make a meaningful impact on student health and well-being for the upcoming school year, from August 3, 2026, through May 21, 2027.
Enjoy the fulfillment of working closely with students, educators, and families in a dynamic educational environment. Definitive placements will be finalized by mid-May, offering opportunities for both Health Office and direct student care positions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Kansas board-issued RN or LPN licensure (copy required with your application)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (copy required)
- Pediatric, school nursing, or public health nursing experience is highly desirable
- Strong clinical skills and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Clear communication and adaptable approach to working with students of diverse backgrounds
- Candidates encouraged to specify their preferred position type: Health Office, classroom-focused, or one-on-one student assignment
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer daily and emergency health care to students and staff
- Manage medication administration, health plans, and documentation in compliance with state and district protocols
- Serve as a health resource for students, families, and faculty
- Collaborate with educational staff and other professionals to support individual health needs
- Foster a safe, responsive, and nurturing school environment
