This full-time contract opportunity is ideal for a compassionate RN who thrives in a collaborative, school-based environment and has experience with tracheostomy and g-tube management.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current and valid RN license in the state of Virginia (or compact state eligibility)
- Previous experience working in a school setting or with pediatric populations preferred
- Proficiency in caring for students with tracheostomy and g-tube requirements
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students, school staff, and families
- Ability to adapt quickly and problem-solve in a dynamic school environment
- BLS/CPR certification required
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, 1:1 nursing care to a student, including trach and g-tube management during school hours
- Monitor the students health status and respond promptly to any changes or emergencies
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments as ordered
- Collaborate with school personnel and related service providers to ensure the students safety and participation in school activities
- Maintain detailed health records and communicate regularly with caregivers and the educational team
- Foster a supportive, safe atmosphere that promotes the students well-being and academic progress
