Job Description

A New Jersey-licensed Registered Nurse is needed to serve as a Float School Nurse supporting multiple K-12 schools within the district. This contract role offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse student population with various medical needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Administering daily medications and managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and life-threatening allergies.
  • Providing specialized care including seizure management and catheterization for students with spina bifida.
  • Monitoring student health, conducting health screenings, and responding to emergencies promptly.
  • Collaborating with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized health plans.
  • Maintaining accurate health records and ensuring compliance with state nursing protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing preferred.
  • Ability to manage a caseload involving a range of medical conditions including diabetes, asthma, seizures, and catheter care.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to float among multiple schools within the district.

Location & Schedule:

  • Position located in Newark, NJ serving multiple schools within the district, including Bridgewater.
  • Full-time hours, approximately 37.5 hours weekly, from 7:10 am to 3:45 pm.
  • Contract duration: Current School Year (CSY), starting ASAP through June 18, 2026.
