This part-time opportunity offers the chance to provide specialized nursing care in a school setting for a student with unique medical needs. Serving a 4th-grade student diagnosed with PRM3 Myopathy, the role requires delivering compassionate and attentive health support while fostering a positive educational environment.
Location: Newark, NJ
Schedule: Part-time, 15 hours weekly (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
Contract Duration: Immediate start through June 23, 2026
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 nursing care for a student using a wheelchair and requiring oxygen support throughout the school day.
- Monitor and manage the students medical condition with diligence and professionalism.
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure the student's safety and participation in classroom activities.
- Administer treatments and interventions in compliance with healthcare protocols and individual care plans.
- Maintain clear and accurate health records, communicating any changes to the care team promptly.
Qualifications:
- Valid New Jersey RN licensure and certification.
- Experience in school nursing or pediatric care preferred.
- Ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies and adapt to the needs of a child with physical disabilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to supporting the student's well-being and educational success.
