A school-based Registered Nurse (RN) position is available to support a bright 4th-grade student with specialized medical needs in an elementary general education setting. This part-time contract role requires an experienced RN who can provide compassionate and skilled care during school hours in Newark, NJ.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one nursing care for a student diagnosed with PRM3 Myopathy.
- Monitor and assist with oxygen support and manual wheelchair needs throughout the school day.
- Collaborate with school staff, family, and healthcare providers to support the students health and educational goals.
- Maintain accurate health records and compliance with school nursing protocols.
- Respond to medical emergencies and administer medications as prescribed.
Qualifications:
- Valid New Jersey RN licensure/certification is required.
- Proven experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in an educational environment with children with special health care needs.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Compassionate, patient, and attentive to medical and emotional needs of students.
Position Details:
- Location: Newark, NJ (Elementary School)
- Schedule: Part-time, 2 days per week (Tuesday & Thursday), approximately 15 hours weekly.
- Contract Duration: Current school year through June 23, 2026.
