This unique, part-time opportunity focuses exclusively on assisting a recently diagnosed kindergarten student with Type 1 Diabetes, specifically during bus transportation. Your expertise and presence will offer added reassurance while ensuring a safe, nurturing ride to and from schoolhelping to set the student up for daily success.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current RN licensure in New Jersey
- Previous pediatric nursing experience or background working in schools strongly preferred
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability with young children
- Strong communication and quick-thinking skills, particularly in emergent or changing situations
- CPR/BLS certification
Key Responsibilities:
- Accompany one kindergarten student on the school bus between home and school
- Monitor and assist with diabetic management as needed during transport
- Collaborate with school nursing staff and the student's primary caregivers to ensure continuity of care
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and communicate updates as necessary
- Respond calmly and effectively to any health-related needs or emergencies during transit
