Job Description
Seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to provide onsite, one-on-one care for a high school male student with complex medical needs. This part-time contract assignment runs from August 2026 through June 2027, with shifts from 7:00am to 2:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The role supports a student who is quadriplegic, uses a sip/puff wheelchair, has a tracheostomy, is on ventilator support, and requires urinary catheterization. The ability to assist physically when needed is essential.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Previous school-based nursing experience
- Proficient in trach care, ventilator management, and urinary catheterization
- Comfortable providing direct nursing support, including lifting assistance
- Background in critical care is highly desirable
- LPN credentials cannot be considered for this role
Responsibilities:
- Deliver focused, individualized care throughout the school day, ensuring the students medical needs are met safely and compassionately
- Monitor and maintain trach site and ventilator functionality
- Perform urinary catheterizations as needed, maintaining the highest standards of infection control and privacy
- Support safe student mobility and emergency preparedness while on campus
- Collaborate with educational and medical staff to promote access, safety, and participation in the academic setting
