Job Description
A full-time 1:1 Registered Nurse position is available in a school-based setting located in Naperville, IL, supporting a medically fragile pediatric student. This role involves providing specialized nursing care throughout the school day, including accompanying the student on the morning bus commute (approximately 510 minutes). The nurse will also assist with classroom academic activities as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care tailored to the needs of a medically fragile pediatric student
- Manage pediatric ventilator care, including understanding ventilator settings and troubleshooting alarms
- Perform suctioning, bagging procedures, and tracheostomy care, including trach changes and use of Heat and Moisture Exchangers (HME)
- Operate and maintain medical equipment and ensure proper equipment connections
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations
- Administer gastrostomy tube (GT) feeding using enteral pumps, prepare feeds, and perform water flushes
- Support student positioning, transfers, and conduct skin checks related to incontinence management
- Assist with donning and doffing ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs)
- Collaborate with educational staff to support academic participation
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active state-issued Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)
- Proficiency in pediatric ventilator care and related medical procedures
- Experience supporting medically fragile students in a school setting is highly preferred

This is a contract position with a schedule aligned to the academic calendar, through May 22, 2026.
