Step into a rewarding contract opportunity providing specialized one-on-one support as an onsite school-based Registered Nurse. This position focuses on the care of a medically fragile student, offering a meaningful chance to make a significant difference in a childs school experience. You'll be responsible for monitoring the health and well-being of a student who requires comprehensive and compassionate care, ensuring their safety and ability to participate fully in the classroom.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Minnesota RN license in good standing
- Active CPR/BLS certification
- Demonstrated competence in tracheostomy care
- Hands-on experience with ventilators, G-J tubes, ostomy care, and oxygen therapy
- Familiarity with pediatric care; previous school-based experience is a plus
- Ability to respond effectively to seizures and administer prescribed medications nasally
- Strong attention to detail and confidence managing complex medical needs independently
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver continuous, individualized care to a student with multiple chronic health conditions during school hours
- Provide hands-on tracheostomy and vent support, G-J tube continuous feedings, ostomy bag changes, and monitor respiratory status including nebulizer use
- Maintain clear communication with school staff and healthcare providers to follow up on care plans
- Respond and assist with emergencies such as seizures or adrenal insufficiency episodes
- Encourage student participation in academic and social settings by creating a nurturing and proactive care environment
- Maintain accurate documentation of interventions and updates per protocol
