Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a high school student as a Registered Nurse in a school-based setting. This full-time role is ideal for an RN looking to make a meaningful difference within an educational community. Enjoy a consistent weekday schedule, working onsite approximately 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
As part of the health services team, you will be responsible for the care of an 18-year-old student who requires trach suctioning. Extensive support and training from on-site nurses are provided to ensure you are comfortable and prepared. The student uses a wheelchair with a belt for secure positioning, and assistance from a paraprofessional is available for transfers and personal care. A mechanical lift is on site should it be needed.
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois (IL RN)
- Experience in school health or pediatric nursing preferred
- Confidence in administering specialized procedures, including trach suctioning (training provided)
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach and strong communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff and related service providers
Responsibilities:
- Provide tracheostomy care and suctioning as required throughout the school day
- Support the students well-being and advocate for their needs in the school environment
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, educators, and clinical advisors to deliver seamless care
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation in accordance with school policies
- Participate in ongoing training and team meetings to ensure best practices
