Job Description

A school-based Registered Nurse (RN) role is available to provide essential health services within a K-12 educational environment located in Kirtland, NM. This contract position runs through the current school year, ending May 29, 2026, offering the opportunity to serve multiple schools as a Lead Nurse supporting student health and wellness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Lead Nurse overseeing Health Aides on campus
  • Provide first aid and basic health care to students and staff
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with directions
  • Support students managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and epilepsy
  • Maintain accurate documentation of health office visits, medication logs, and immunization records
  • Assist with student health screenings and contribute to IEP/504 plan support
  • Respond promptly and effectively to health emergencies
  • Collaborate closely with school personnel, parents, and healthcare providers
  • Travel between 23 schools within the district as needed

Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Experience working with children or in school health settings preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Must successfully pass background check and fingerprint clearance
  • Bilingual skills in English and Navajo (Din) highly preferred
  • Familiarity with IEPs, individualized student care plans, and school health regulations including FERPA is advantageous
