This full-time registered nurse position in Kansas City, MO offers a rewarding opportunity to provide specialized school nursing care. The role supports a 4th grade female student with special needs at an elementary school, with additional clinic nursing responsibilities throughout the district when the student is not in attendance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing direct care for a student with complex health needs including G-tube feeding, seizure disorder, wheelchair use, and no trach care
- Meeting the student at the bus barn and accompanying her safely on and off the school bus
- Serving as the primary nurse at the school site, running the health clinic independently and making clinical decisions autonomously
- Providing nursing support for PreK-12 students district-wide as needed
- Maintaining accurate electronic medical records and demonstrating proficiency with technology and multitasking
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Current RN license valid in Missouri with a clean record (no hits on Nursys)
- Recent pediatric nursing experience required; ICU, ER, or prior school nursing preferred
- Comfortable working independently and adapting to flexible scheduling across multiple grade levels
- Strong skills in clinical assessment, emergency response, and electronic charting systems
Location & schedule highlights:
- Based in Kansas City with no travel outside the area required
- Typical schedule is approximately 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM
- Contract assignment through May 28th with an immediate start date
