An exciting contract opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse (RN) with school nursing experience to provide essential support to a student in the Harrisburg, PA area. This assignment involves accompanying and supervising a type 1 diabetic student during daily transportation to and from a specialized placement in Lancaster. Your daily presence will help ensure the students safety and well-being by monitoring their condition and providing medical oversight as needed. This position begins promptly on 10/20 and is scheduled to last for 45 days.

Key Qualifications:

• Active RN license in Pennsylvania required
• Experience in school nursing or similar pediatric nursing settings preferred
• Strong knowledge of diabetes management, especially type 1 diabetes
• Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to changing medical needs
• Excellent observation and communication skills
• Reliable transportation and punctuality essential

Primary Responsibilities:

• Accompany the student to and from school daily (approximate hours: 7:00-9:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m.)
• Supervise and monitor the students blood sugar levels during transport
• Respond to any medical emergencies or changes in condition
• Maintain close communication with student, school staff, and parents
• Document care and interventions provided during shifts
• Ensure the students comfort and safety at all times
