A full-time 1:1 Pediatric Registered Nurse position is available in Franklin Park, IL, providing specialized nursing support for a medically fragile student in a school setting. This travel assignment involves working at a K8 school where you will accompany the student on the morning bus ride and provide comprehensive nursing care throughout the school day, as well as assist with classroom academics when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer pediatric ventilator care, including monitoring and adjusting ventilator settings.
- Perform suctioning, bagging, and troubleshooting of ventilator alarms.
- Provide tracheostomy care, including trach changes and management of Heat and Moisture Exchange (HME) devices.
- Manage medical equipment connections and ensure proper operation.
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies.
- Administer gastrostomy tube (GT) feedings, including enteral pump operation, feed preparation, and water flushes.
- Assist with student positioning, transfers, and incontinence management, including regular skin checks.
- Don and doff Ankle-Foot Orthoses (AFOs) as required.
- Support academic activities as needed throughout the school day.
Qualifications:
- Active State-Issued Registered Nursing License.
- Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
- Proven experience in pediatric ventilator care and trach management.
- Ability to work in a non-clinical, school-based environment.
- Must be available for travel to the Franklin Park, IL school location.
