Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a 1:1 school-based Registered Nurse providing specialized care for a medically fragile student in an educational setting near Elk River, MN. Key Qualifications:
- Current Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Active CPR/BLS certification
- Proven experience with tracheostomy care
- Pediatric nursing experience preferred
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Compassionate bedside manner and the ability to remain calm in urgent situations
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 nursing care and support to a student with complex medical needs
- Provide routine and emergency care for trach, ventilator, ostomy bag, oxygen tank, and seizure disorder
- Administer J tube feedings continuously throughout the school day
- Oversee and maintain equipment such as a wheelchair and nebulizer
- Administer medication nasally as indicated for seizures and monitor for adrenal insufficiency
- Change ostomy bag as needed and respond promptly to changing health status
- Monitor respiratory status, perform necessary interventions, and collaborate with school staff and healthcare providers to ensure optimal student well-being
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and communicate effectively with parents and educational staff
