A school-based nursing position is available to provide dedicated, one-on-one medical support to a medically fragile student in Elk River, MN. This contract role involves working onsite to manage complex health needs and ensure the students safety and well-being throughout the school day.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering tracheostomy care and managing a ventilator.
- Assisting with gastrostomy (G-tube) and jejunostomy (J-tube) continuous feedings.
- Changing ostomy bags as needed.
- Administering medications, including nasally delivered treatments for seizure management.
- Monitoring respiratory status and providing nebulizer treatments.
- Supporting a wheelchair-bound student with adrenal insufficiency and other health complications.
- Collaborating with school staff and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans.
Qualifications and experience:
- Active Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Proven experience with tracheostomy care.
- Pediatric nursing experience preferred.
- Strong skills in managing medically complex students in educational settings.
The position requires a commitment of 38 hours per week, providing focused attention to the students medical needs within the school environment.
