An immediate position is available for a caring, attentive Registered Nurse to support a student with type 1 diabetes, ensuring their safety and well-being during transportation to and from a specialized educational setting.
The role requires active monitoring and supervision, as the student is unable to self-manage their blood sugar levels. Youll provide essential care, creating peace of mind for the student and their family. The workday is split into two segmentstypically from 7:009:00 a.m. and 1:003:00 p.m.allowing for an uninterrupted mid-day break.
Key Qualifications:
- Current RN license in Pennsylvania
- Previous school nursing or pediatric experience highly desirable
- Ability to work independently and respond quickly in urgent situations
- Experience caring for individuals with diabetes preferred
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach
Main Responsibilities:
- Accompany the student during daily transportation, ensuring safety and proper glucose management
- Monitor and document blood sugar levels; administer insulin or other interventions as needed
- Respond effectively to emergencies or changes in condition
- Collaborate closely with school staff and family to maintain continuity of care
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with school policies
