In this contract role, you will work directly onsite, assisting a 3-year-old student diagnosed with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD). The student is non-ambulatory, weighing approximately 24 lbs., and requires support with an NG-tube (not a G-tube). Your experience will help ensure the students health and comfort as they participate in school activities.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Active RN license with a strong background in school or pediatric nursing
- Demonstrated experience handling NG-tubes
- Physical ability to lift and transport a non-ambulatory child
- Understanding of the unique needs of students with complex medical conditions
- Flexibility to accompany the student on buses and provide support throughout the school day
- Kindness, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to student well-being
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert nursing care and ongoing health monitoring during school hours (8am-3pm, approximately 35 hours/week)
- Managing the students NG-tube requirements and communicating any needs or updates to staff and caregivers
- Supporting safe lifting and transport of the student around campus and on the bus
- Coordinating closely with educational and medical staff to facilitate optimal learning and health outcomes
- Responding swiftly and appropriately to any health-related emergencies that may arise
